I would consider myself a girl of simple taste when it comes to jewelry but I’m not going to deny my profound love and appreciation for it. Gaudy, flamboyant gems have never really been my thing. I‘ve always preferred more classic pieces, that add that simple yet perfect touch to an outfit. Admittedly, it’s been a while since my last jewelry purchase but then a friend told me about this contest on the My Jewelry Box website where contestants choose one favorite jewelry item on the site under $400 and get the chance to win it simply by writing about it.
Opportunity knocked and I’m answering the door. As I browsed the site, I already had something quite specific in mind. Pearls! I absolutely love pearls. So elegant, so lustrous, so Audrey Hepburn! There is something utterly timeless about pearls and the Japanese white akoya pearl necklace being sold for $395 is my contest item of choice.

The necklace comes affixed with a 14k white or yellow gold clasp (I would go for the white gold). It is 20 inches in length and each pearl is 6.0-6.5mm. The akoya pearls are imported directly from the saltwaters of Japan, and grown in the Pinctada Fucata oyster. Simple, beautiful and classic, pearls also carry sentimental value to me as they are also my mother’s favorite kind of jewelry. Alas, she has her pearls but I don’t have mine, so if chance is on my side, maybe I’ll be the lucky winner of this longtime jewelry dream of mine.
