We’re not trying to be vulgar when we talk about the crown jewels here ladies. In a time governed by the great monarchies, crown jewels symbolized the right-to-rule. So to all women out there, exercise your right-to-rule! Feeling beautiful can be enhanced by a wide variety of jewelry. The fun is hunting down that special “diamond in the rough”.

Most of the things I own are staples. But some particular pieces can really make my individuality stand out.

When getting dressed up for an occasion, there is no denying that pulling the perfect outfit together can be a fun and energizing thing to do, (so long as you have the right items). A simple black dress can go a long way if you spruce it up with a simple diamond necklace. Diamonds are an investment, and you don’t need to wait for someone else to buy them for you. Having the basics is important and frankly, fulfilling. It’s fun to be able to pull off that little black number, dressed to the nines with a simple small set of diamond earrings and matching teardrop necklace.

JEWELS IN THE CROWN

With all the necklaces, earrings, toe rings, hairpins and more, I like to keep my things organized in separate jewelry boxes.

I decided to take my mother’s old jewelry box hostage. Red velvet-lined, with leather exterior box, its familiar fold open top allows the hutch trays to reveal a bottom compartment. These kinds of boxes are always available whether at retro revisions or at thrift stores. Having a variety of boxes is a nice way to keep yourself organized. Having to dig for a matching set of earrings or untangle your favorite necklace from the 25 other chains in the box, is the last thing you ever want to do. Knowing how you are going to store jewelry is essential to keeping your accessories with you for a long time.

Jewelry is an integral part of my getting ready routine. All cleaned up and ready to tackle the day ahead, I have a set of small silver frog earrings that I often like to wear. This is an indulgence that I don’t necessarily bring to business meetings, but when it’s just me and the girls out for coffee, it can be fun to go all out.

There are other items in my jewelry collection that can be worn on a more day to day basis. Some items are meant to be noticed while others are meant just for me.
